David Quain - Editor in Chief
Dr David Quain has been Editor in Chief of JIB since 2017 and publishing editor since 2023. He joined the brewing industry in 1970 as a Laboratory Assistant before obtaining a BSc (Heriot-Watt University) and PhD (University of Liverpool). He then worked at Campden BRI, Bass/Coors/Molson Coors, Heriot-Watt University, University of Nottingham, the Institute of Brewing and Distilling (IBD) and in consultancy. David is a Fellow and Cambridge Prize winner of the IBD and a Honorary Senior Research Fellow at the University of Glasgow and Honorary Professor of Fermentation and Dispense Technology at the University of Nottingham. His current research focuses on draught beer hygiene and quality. He has published 14 papers in JIB (1981-2023) and is coauthor with Dr Chris Boulton of the book Brewing Yeast & Fermentation.
